About the Role

We are looking for a Assistant Accountant to join our expanding accountancy practice located in Hampton. We provide a friendly, flexible and proactive all year-round service to small businesses and individuals in the local area.

The key duties of the post are as follows:


  • Preparation of Accounts for Sole Traders, Partnerships and Limited Companies.

  • Preparation of Self-Assessment Tax Returns for Sole Traders, Rental property Income, Individuals and Partnerships.

  • Preparation of Corporation Tax Computations for Limited Companies.

  • Bookkeeping includes preparation and submission of VAT Returns.

  • Managing the processing of monthly payrolls, CIS scheme and setting up and administration of Auto Enrolment pension schemes

  • Provision of day to day business support to clients.

  • Experience in dealing with HMRC on behalf of clients

  • Answering telephone calls, dealing with enquiries and responding to queries in a timely, courteous and efficient manner and accurately logging information.

  • Establishing and maintaining a professional and friendly working relationship with Clients, outsourced partners and colleagues.

  • Manage, organise and update relevant data using database applications

Skills and Qualities Required:


  • Part-qualified or qualified ACA, ACCA, AAT or by demonstrable experience

  • Two years plus experience working within an accountancy practice

  • Competent with end to end accounts and tax comp preparation for sole traders, limited companies and partnerships, with turnover up to £2m.

  • Good working knowledge of accounting software – TaxCalc, Xero, QuickBooks, Brightpay or similar

  • Looking to build great and long-lasting team and client relationships

  • Ambitious, a self-starter, has a 'can-do' attitude and looking to work in a great environment

  • Able to work to tight deadlines without compromisingthe quality of your work

  • You must have a positive attitude and demonstrate a proactive and enthusiastic, customer-focused approach.

  • You will need to be conscientious, committed and reliable.

  • You must be able to produce accurate and timely work and to work on your own initiative to tight deadlines, without compromising the quality of work.

  • You must be able to communicate with Clients in a friendly and professional manner.

  • You should be proactive, motivated and willing to learn, with a problem-solving attitude.
