Seeking an outstanding Senior Security Engineer with experience managing a complex firewall environment. The Senior Security Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the perimeter security at Huron.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Seeking an outstanding Lead Security Engineer with experience managing a complex firewall environment. The Lead Security Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the perimeter security at Huron.
The Senior/Security Engineer role is a hybrid role that encompasses a variety of responsibilities including all aspects of perimeter\edge security and providing guidance to groups about security. The Senior Security Engineer works collaboratively with all other infrastructure teams including the network, governance and risk, storage, system administration, and corporate facilities teams. This position coordinates and manages all day to day operations for our firewall environment. As part of the Infrastructure team, this role is responsible for the development, design and execution of the 5-year roadmap set by senior management. This includes proactive and reactive measures to minimize all threats related to data and network security.
The Senior Security Engineer provides support to the infrastructure teams and datacenter activities including installation, upgrades, automation, monitoring, and/or administration activities. Will research and implement system enhancements that will improve efficiency, performance, availability, redundancy and reliability of the system, install and configure new hardware/software, coordinate systems planning such as upgrading, monitoring, testing, and servicing. Analyzes and resolves system issues. Systems referenced include datacenter components, such as, but not limited to servers, networking components, along with the technologies used to manage these devices.
The Senior Security Engineer will work closely with the GRC (Governance Risk and Compliance) team on all IT related audits and alignment to security frameworks. In addition, supports the GRC team on technical topics as needed for our ISO 27001, ISO 22301, HIPAA and SOX certifications.
KEY RESPONSIBITIES INCLUDE:
  • Provide security infrastructure operations support including Firewalls, IPS, Proxy, VPN, UTM.
  • New security device setup, existing device upgrade, firewall changes implementation, troubleshooting, support.
  • Incident, change, problem, escalation management related to connectivity issue in the security infrastructure.
  • Min 2+ hands-on experience working with Cisco ASA firewalls & Palo Alto Network Firewalls(Panorama).
  • Familiar with packet capture
  • Develop, manage and improve how clients connect into Huron’s hosted environment
  • Support activities around cloud adoption, and provide guidance on best practices for cloud enablement
  • Analyze network traffic for root cause analysis (sniffers, packet capturing, routing)
  • Remediates vulnerabilities identified in the firewalls
  • Policy & Procedure Development
  • Involvement with security incident response activities that includes responding in a manner that identifies, contains and remediates threats to the business
  • Inventory & Asset Management within the Security team

Strong verbal/written skills and the ability to effectively interface with internal business groups, operations teams, technical engineering teams, internal audit, regulators, and senior management
  • Strong engineering and working knowledge of Enterprise Level firewall technologies
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills, with the ability to work under restrictions/deadlines

BASIC CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
Skills:
Intermediate proficiency in:
  • Windows, Linux
  • Enterprise Firewalls (Palo Alto, Cisco ASA)

Proficient in:
  • Networking and routing protocols
  • IT systems design and best practices
  • Project management
  • Network hardening


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Information Systems, or equivalent experience
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience required or equivalent in relevant work experience
  • Understanding of cyber security and how security programs are developed and maintained within an organization.
  • Ability to secure Huron’s IT resources in the datacenter and in the AWS environment.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to multi-task & adapt to changing priorities quickly.
  • Ability to act independently with follow-through as well as a good team building skills.
  • Excellent communication, strong customer service work ethic with ability to provide support quickly
  • Ability to remotely resolve technical issues across all time zones and clear understanding of elevated permissions
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to wear many hats, learn and administer several different systems.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including at times nights and weekends
