Product Sales Manager at Valmet

As a Product Sales Manager, you will focus on pulp and paper refining in the Midwest region to sell consumable products. This is a highly visible position within the company, critical to the advancement and growth of the organization.
The PSM has the following resources available for this role:
Customer Service, Valmet Waukesha Sales Manager and application engineers, along with Valmet NA and Global support. Existing product line and technology. Design engineering support for new design concepts. Manufacturing and pattern making support for manufacturing new concepts. Extensive marketing database. Presentation Tools Proven and advancing technology Brand Name Recognition Established Sales Volume Product/application expansion capabilities Established base of business
What you’ll need:
If you are a self-starter with high energy to drive improvement forward, this position may be right for you. An effective communicator with well developed group problem solving and planning facilitation skills will allow the right candidate to be successful in this role. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skill which are supportive of a collaborative working environment. You should have well developed professional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to develop and facilitate training to a team.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Provide regular call reports providing the status of refining at the mills. Regular mill visits to provide a higher level of service to the customer than the competitor. Work with the Application Engineers and design engineering to provide plate recommendations to support sales growth.
  • Learn 6 step process for system optimization.
  • Forecast business and be able to understand current customer needs. You will be WAU voice of the customer.
  • Visit mills when there is a problem to try and help identify causes and corrective actions.
  • Participate in annual forecasting session and develop strategies to capture add plan positions or accounts.
  • Participate in improvement efforts of the technical design process.

The percentage breakdown of time devoted to key functions within the scope of the Product Sales Manager position is as follows:
70 – 80% Mill visits and customer meetings.
20 – 30% Call reports, Internal Valmet Meetings.
You should have a Technical degree, preferably in Paper Science, Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. You should also have experience in the Pulp & Paper Mill, and/or Mechanical Pulp Mill (includes Co-Op and Internships).
